Irina is originally from Kazakstan, where her parents were teachers at a
university in Novosibersk on the River Obe. Almost all of her work features
grandmothers because she loves the idea that all grandmothers have to do is give
love to children. When asked about the noses she paints on the grandmothers, she
said "All grandmothers have that nose." |
